Transfer Student Support

All UCSC transfer students have access to all the benefits of other Cal Teach Interns. Transfer students also have access to the following scholarship:

Noyce Transfer Scholarship

Incoming transfer students from partner institutions who are majoring in STEM fields and interested in math or science teaching careers may be accepted as NSF Noyce Transfer Scholars. Noyce Transfer Scholars will participate in the intensive K-12 classroom internship in early September; be assigned a Noyce faculty mentor in math, physical sciences, or life sciences; and participate in academic-year Cal Teach internships. Noyce Transfer Scholars incur no teaching obligation. Priority in selection will go to students transferring from partner institutions,* but students from all California community colleges are urged to apply.

*Noyce Teacher Scholarships are funded by the National Science Foundation, and they require two years of K-12 teaching service in a qualifying school for each scholarship year. NSF requires Noyce Teacher Scholarship recipients to be United States citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens.

 

How to become a Noyce Transfer Scholar

Transfer students from Noyce partner community colleges* who are majoring in a science, math, or engineering field will become Noyce Transfer Scholars when they participate in any Cal Teach internship. Transfer students from other community colleges who are majoring in a science, math, or engineering field are also urged to request participation as a Noyce Transfer Scholar. The best time to start as a Noyce Transfer Scholar is in the fall of the transfer year, with a September intensive internship prior to fall quarter. Apply for the September intensive internship as soon as you accept admission to UCSC.

*Partner colleges whose graduates receive priroity in selection for the Noyce Transfer Scholarships are:

Cabrillo, Cañada, Foothill, Gavilan, Hartnell, Ohlone, and San José City Colleges
