California Teach 1. F & W. 2 units. An introductory seminar exploring secondary students, teaching, and schools in the context of science and/or mathematics instruction. Students must concurrently participate in a secondary school internship. Course material is designed to support and enhance students’ placement experiences. |

California Teach 2. F & S. 2 units. Examines students, schools, and science and/or mathematics instruction with emphasis on developing an instructional project aligned with state-mandated content standards. Students must concurrently participate in a secondary school internship. Course content designed to support and enhance students’ placement experiences. |

California Teach 3. W. 5 units. Analyzes student learning of mathematics and science in formal and informal settings. Assumptions about learning, teaching and schooling are examined as well as considering the contexts and practices that best support the development of students' scientific and mathematical understanding. Students will study theory and research on student learning and conceptual development and apply these in their classroom practicum. Students must concurrently participate in a secondary school internship. |

Each is considered in terms of the partial theories of James, Dewey, and Skinner; cognitive constructivism, particularly the theories of cognitive science; and, finally, an integrated sociocultural theory of education.
