INTERNSHIPS

Cal Teach provides a series of internships for prospective science and math teachers who are undergraduates at UCSC and surrounding community colleges n local K-12 schools.

Interns will:

  • spend 4-5 hours per week in middle or high school science and math classes
  • enroll in a concurrent Cal Teach seminar course, a 2-credit seminar designed to support and enhance classroom placements
  • receive a $600 award after completion of the internship and seminar (for students in approved majors).
  • work with one or more K-12 mentor teachers.

Cal Teach Students are urged to complete a major in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math; and, at UCSC, environmental studies majors emphasizing science). Internship stipends and other financial benefits are available only to students in approved majors.
